There's no equipment purchase and no installation fee. The only thing you pay at sign-up is a fully refundable $99 deposit, which covers the cost of your Virtual Site Survey, plan sets, and permits. That deposit is returned after your first bill once the battery is installed and active—or in full if you cancel before permits are submitted.

Energywell does. They install it, own it, and manage it for the full 15-year term of the battery agreement. You don't manage the hardware—Energywell handles everything.

The battery agreement can be transferred to a new qualified customer at no cost or penalty. Energywell assists with the process—just give them notice as you approach closing.

Your home switches to battery power automatically—typically in under 10 milliseconds. Most customers only learn about an outage after the fact. How long the battery lasts depends on your home's energy usage and the battery's charge level at the time of the outage. Backup duration is not guaranteed.

Energywell manages battery operation automatically. You can view your current State of Charge on the smart panel of your battery system, and Energywell's care team can answer battery status questions beyond what your panel displays.

Cancellation terms depend on timing and market. If you cancel before permits are submitted, your $99 deposit is fully refunded. Early termination of the battery agreement after that point may result in an uninstall fee—the amount and conditions are defined in your Battery Services Agreement. Exiting under the Lowest Rate Guarantee at renewal carries no fees or penalties.

At every renewal of your five-year electricity contract, Energywell guarantees your rate will beat the best comparable rate available in your market. If they can't match it, you can exit the program—battery removed at no cost, no fees, no penalties. In Illinois, comparable rates must be from a licensed ARES, the same term length and renewable percentage, and not promotional.
